Wow, I never knew they aired that close. I do remember seeing the promo for "Grave Mistake" for the first time and getting really excited because I didn't think the show was getting any new episodes. I guess Disney has just always been weird with how they air their shows. Like how they gave us 5 episodes of Girl Meets World in a week and then like a month before the next one.

Yeah, they're awful when it comes to that. Gravity Falls, season 2, started airing one year ago today and they've only made it through 12 30 minute episodes. There have only been 3 episodes in the past 8 months.

Does anyone else skip everything after Rick pull Fi up off the roof? Knowing how it was going to go, what was originally planned to happen, it's just such a disappointment when Rick says they should have said goodbye before. That this is "closure" just seems so wrong. Under normal circumstances, it might be healthy to say goodbye, but these are not normal circumstances, and Fi never succeeds in getting her father back!
Still gotta watch Molly when Fi goes over the edge and calls out, though, because that sequence is awesome.

Nah... while I would have loved to see the original ending, I can't really bring myself to hate on how they reworked it. To me, it is what it is, I grew to love it and love the season 3 we got... however there are times I prefer to pretend Lightning Rod doesn't exist because of how OOC Fi is... but then we wouldn't have some of Annie's best one-liners, so there's a tiny bit of a silver lining there. Personally, as a writer, I understand sometimes stories don't turn out as intended. Especially when I fiction... often times, they themselves and the ending is completely different than what was imagined at the start. That's kind of how I see this, even though it's on a much different scale. Kinda makes the loss of the original Twin ending and original plans for S3 way easier to deal with.

“It would make absolute sense to reference the pilot in Fi’s last episode as the main character. On another level, the story is brought full-circle. The boy’s parents couldn’t reach his hand in time, but Rick could reach Fiona’s and save her from a similar fate.”
