Irene takes Annie and Jack on a fishing trip where Annie discovers that the lake used to be a flooded town and the townspeople have now evolved into sea monsters that attack the people of the new town.

I've asked this before, but who thinks Supernatural ripped off parts of So Weird? There are way too many similarities between the two shows. I'm going to do some research to see if any people on the writing team or film crew worked on both shows to see if I can find connections.
the Supernatural Season 1 episode seems like almost a blatant rip off of this episode. The lake monster, some of the shots are even the same, the bathtub. It's way to similar to be coincidental

Ah, I was wondering if anyone else noticed! I haven’t listened to that episode of the podcast yet.

I totally agree! There are SO many similarities between early Supernatural and So Weird. Their pilots both having to do with drowning ghosts, the siblings losing a parent young, the road trips, right down to the older sibling wearing a symbolic necklace and the younger sibling always doing all the research on their laptop. On SPN the car was even supposed to be a classic Mustang like Jack and Clu's before it was changed to an Impala. I had a working list somewhere of other similarities, and I'm sure there's one somewhere on this forum.

It's not a full comparison to the overall series, but we do have the original 2004 pitch from Supernatural's creator, Eric Kripke, on the blog here.
