Anyone as excited as I am?! I've been half a mess all day. I still can't believe this is happening.
Have you read Fantastic Beasts?

Yes! I'm really intrigued to see what the movie's going to be like. I read the book in about 5th grade and mostly just paid attention to Ron and Harry's scribbles so I don't remember if there was an actual plot in there somewhere. Is the movie supposed to tell the story of how Newt Scamander discovered all the beasts or something?

Are the original cast coming back or different actors?

I heard it takes place in New York 70 years before Harry Potter takes place. I'm so excited. I have been freaking out all day. They also said it's the first of a series of movies.

Yayyy, some fellow Potterheads! I read both Fantastic Beasts and Quidditch through the Ages on a plane four years ago. I thought they were both fun and interesting, but I haven't picked them up since.
Although I love Harry Potter to bits (as I've said in the chat, I consider it a part of me), I have to say that the creatures aren't far up there on my list of favorite things about the series. I feel like Care of Magical Creatures would have been one of my least favorite classes if I ever attended Hogwarts. Still, Newt's adventures sound so awesome and I'm thrilled that we're going to be able to learn more about other parts of the wizarding world. Every little bit of new information is such a gift to me.

I completely feel you Rockerbaby. Harry Potter is a very big part of my life. I dressed up for all the midnight releases (movie and books) and started role-playing on Harry Potter proboards sites. I actually ran about 5 of them with my friends. We had them all at different times in the universe. (Marauders at Hogwarts, First Wizarding War, Second Wizarding War, After the Second, and the future children's generation at Hogwarts)
I am so excited about this. I enjoyed reading those two books you listed. I really like the scribbled notes and such.

I roleplayed a lot, too! Those days are over (I was a bit of a perfectionist, so it was a very time-consuming hobby) but I remember them very fondly. I still like to go look at my old posts and smack myself on the head. I was very over-dramatic, truth be told. I went to the midnight releases starting with book seven and movie six. I wasn't able to go before then because my parents didn't allow me.
I loved the scribbles, too. Have you read the Tales of Beedle the Bard?

I look at my old posts and am like WHY DID I THAT. THAT IS SO OVER DRAMATIC. THAT IS SUCH A BAD SENTENCE. I WROTE SO POORLY. NOOOOOOOOOOOO. I think I started the book releases with book 5. I can't remember if it was 4 or 5 now. I missed the 2nd movie release because I failed a test and to this day I tell my mother she ruined my life for it. haha I have read Tales! I loved it! It's so interesting and weird. I like that we get to read the fairy tales wizarding children got to read when they were little.

I did alot of role playing too, back in 2008-09, on Myspace. I role played as Gabrielle the bard from Xena Warrior Princess and Amanda Young from the SAW movies, Never was that good at it though, due to my bad grammar and that I also have writers block.

OH my gosh! Myspace role playing! I made an account for Bianca from Charmed. She was in the episode Chris Crossed. She was Chris's girlfriend/fiancee from the future. I was also Missouri Mosely from Supernatural. Man....that was fun writing on Myspace. I also did a little livejournal as Gwen from Merlin.

Not sure if I'll be reading them to my little kids someday, though. Haha. As I recall, they were kind of messed up, but I guess that's the way a lot of fairy tales are. I've only read those once, too. I need to get a regular copy of the book so I can read it without worrying about damaging the pages/spine.

The true (not Disney) version of fairy tales rarely ended happily. They were mostly like the Tales endings. And there are so many versions like Perrault and the Brothers Grimm. I LOVE fairy tales. Not sure when I would let my future children read them but one day they probably would.

Heard about this from my sister today. Haven't read the book but if it's about fantastical creatures, that sounds pretty neat.
