The big bad banned episode. Carey becomes an alcoholic and Molly reunites with Rebecca. How I wish a script of this episode was on the internet...

There used to be more detailed information about the episode available here but the link doesn't seem to be working at the moment Someone did a fanfic script of it that's still up, though ( X)

So I finally got some time to fully read the overview. Not sure what to think. Most of the time, when a TV show which normally doesn't address such issues attempts to address a serious issue like this, it comes off as cheesy or preachy. But if they were going to make it in to a continuing story arc which it seems they were, it could have worked. And yeah, there's no way in hell Disney's touching that. The thing about giving Fi an episode off strikes me as interesting. I always wondered why she wasn't really in Avatar.

Though I want to see it now because I want to see everything So Weird, it doesn't seem to mesh well with the rest of the show.
I mean I never saw anyone drinking before then. Right?

. As we know, musicians are known for not drinking and smoking, right? Especially on long tours in little tiny (apparently straightedge) clubs...

I wish we would of got this episode instead of Avatar, Because it would of shown more of Molly's character, plus Rebecca. DAMN DISNEY XD

It would have tied in with the rest of the show if they could have used it to dig into Molly's background as an alcoholic. Then they could discuss why we haven't seen anybody drinking on the show-- Molly couldn't be around that. I also definitely remember reading somewhere that the lyrics to "In the Darkness" was about Molly's struggle with alcoholism.
Even if they never got to address the issue on the show, I still accept it as part of Molly's character and I think the framework for it is definitely present in the series-- from the theme song, and from the stories we've heard about Molly getting into trouble as a teenager and her rough relationship with her parents.

Did they really never overtly address Molly's alcoholism on the show? I remembered it as being a part of the show, and so did my sister when I mentioned to her that I had started watching it again.

I don't think so, not that I can remember. And I know the series backward and forward.... it's really quite scary. XD

, weird. I guess they were just really good at writing it as subtext, then.

@mischievous Monkey Thank You So Much for posting the outline for this episode. Another Piece in the So Weird Lore exists. I read it last night and blimey I can see why the episode never got made. Not so much the alcoholism part although it is pretty heavy in this story outline, there could have been a work around of some sorts but the way the butterfly creatures inhabit and exited the host body. Well I won't spoil for those who haven't read it yet, but it's kind of a red flag situation. Sort of. Enough for the Disney Higher ups to say no and go for Avatar instead. If So Weird was broadcast on another network like Fox, WB or the Sci Fi Channel like Sliders and Buffy, then maybe they would have a bit more freedom to tackle episodes like Chrysalis. The biggest shame is with Jack in this story, in a situation of the weird that he can't dismiss as easily when Fi's around. Since she isn't around in this story, Jack gradually comes to terms with the weird, works through it and comes up with a solution over the course of this story. And unlike Avatar, there's no 'Forgot the Whole Thing' Plot Device at the end. like Jack's character would have developed quite well in this episode. The state of denial would have been broken and this would slowly lead to what would have been the Knight Arc, starting to accept the Paranormal and believing in Fi. Anyway, thanks again for posting this Monkey

@retroheart , Not a problem! Prior to that clean outline, I think the best we had was a page from a now-defunct So Weird site.
As for Chrysalis, I have mixed feelings. Like you said, it would have been great for Jack, but I think even on a non-Disney network, it seems very much NOT like a So Weird episode? Maybe because I just can't picture it the way the writers intended and it still be in the "format" of what we know. Unfortunately we'll never know.
