@mischievous Monkey, that is a fair point. Looking over the outline in more detail I can see where you're coming from. Mind you, an outline is a early part of the production process. By the time a final draft script is developed, the story could have been altered differently to suit the So Weird Format. Outlines are essential getting ideas down on the page. Studying film and animation, you get to learn about all this stuff which is really cool. ^_^ Maybe because it didn't work in outline form is another reason why it never got made. Like you said, we'll never know. Also cool So Weird Website link by the way!

I read the script and oddly enough...I'm a little glad it didn't get made. Mostly because I wouldn't want to see the "transformation" parts, that sounds like gross-out horror and I'm not a fan. But I also think the episode is very much NOT So Weird, and WAY too mature. I'd expect to see something like that on a CW or Freeform college show. The story's not relatable for kids and the majority would think it was boring at best (except at the end, a lot of kids would like the gross-out factor).
Before reading the outline, I'd pictured Chrysalis done VERY subtly, and even then I had a hard time imagining how'd they go about it. I think the Molly story could work if they dialed it back A LOT and Fi was there to provide the kid POV. But the alcoholism story at the college wasn't going to be greenlit in a million years. Maybe if they did a small B plot where Fi and Jack caught Carey hungover and expressed concern...but even that would be a stretch.
For a mature story like this, I believe Fi would HAVE to be there to represent the target audience and their questions. I thought Avatar was a good, lighter story to do without her - up until the end when the annoying kid ruined it. But that's beside the point.
