Seriously, how do we not have this thread yet? Besides the crackships and Finie, this is like the biggest ship of the fandom. Also, I'm suffering from So Weird withdrawal, I lended my DVDs to a friend and I don't know what to do with my life. So discuss, friends! Entertain me P.S. How many of you pretend the Siren episode never happened or that Callie put a spell on Carey, or is that just me?

thank you. This is my favorite ship of them all. I think the Molly/Carey dynamic is the best thing about season 3 because that's when it gets serious-- he starts calling her "Molly" or "Mol" instead of "Mrs. P," he saves her life in Voodoo, he's her knight in shining armor in Beeing There, he just randomly shows up for "breakfast" whenever... Season 3 is definitely the year of the Marey. Also I really want to vid them again but I can't think of a good song. Years ago I vidded them to "A Lonely September" by The Plain White T's (I think I posted it under the vids board) and I remember starting a vid to "If I Am" by Nine Days that I don't think I ever finished but I'm not sure if I want to try to remake either of those or start something new.

They were so adorable in season 3! In Widow's Walk, when Molly says (about the old lady): "She's just a woman who lost her husband." And Carey looks so hurt, I seriously cry. Ah, "breakfast", gotcha. Time to a new fanfic! , did you make This Year's Love! That's literally my favorite SW fanvid of all time! By the way, the"Carey has stage fright" scene in Twin is perfection, when they put their arms around each other I can't even deal

No, that was made by Christine who is pretty much the queen (or co-queen-- I think she had a friend who was also responsible for exploding this ship) of the Molly/Carey ship and made so many awesome So Weird vids. My current youtube is poufsouffledoodle and my old one was soweirdfan4life. I think I posted my old Molly'Carey vid in the same thread as all my other vids from my old account. I still have to make a new one for them. Did you ever see the vid "Dirty Little Secret" by useapostrophes? I think it is the most well-done AU So Weird vid I have ever seen that shows how the Molly/Carey dynamic might play out. It's sheer perfection. And yessss they're so cute in Twin. I love their relationship in Nightmare-- how he only comfortable telling Molly he dropped out, how she puts her arm around him and then how they're all cute laughing together by the bus at the end. Adorable.

Oh right! I'll go subscribe when I have have the chance My favorite episode has to be Oopa. I feel like Carey gets so protective of himself, feeling jealous of Tad. And I can only interpret him being so willing to believe Fi because he wanted to get Tad in trouble. God, why do they such an amazing love story and then make it non-canon? The hell, I'd be satisfied with one kiss on the cheek. Just one.

lol well I remember a Jon Cooksey quote on Molly/Carey... something about how they never intended there to be any romantic subtext, but Eric Lively did come off as too mature and thus a romance between the two could be possible.
I don't think the writers for season 3 ever commented on it, which is a pity since season 3 has the most subtext between them.

Out of all the ships I've heard of for this show, I have to say this one is one I just don't get. I mean, Carey grew up knowing Molly. I wouldn't be surprised if she babysat him when he was a baby... I just can't ship anything like that.
But considering none of that is really explicitly mentioned, and there is a little bit of subtext, I can see why others do love it so much.

, I never knew Jon commented on them! God, now I feel a compulsive need to rewatch the whole show and take note of every single Marey moment. I understand where you're coming from, Theboss, I think their appeal is that their friendship is so genuine and strong, we all expected it to become a little more than that.

Honestly, I never think about Carey growing up around Molly. In my mind, Carey did not exist until Clu was getting ready to leave for college.
I ship it because there really is so much subtext and Eric Lively really does come off as older than he's supposed to be. It's just fun to look for the subtext and imagine what would have happened if the writers realized it sooner and ran with it.

In my mind, Carey did not exist until Clu was getting ready to leave for college. What about the evidence against that, like Clu mentioning having an older brother as early as Strangling or the flashbacks that feature Carey in Fountain?

What about the evidence against that, like Clu mentioning having an older brother as early as Strangling or the flashbacks that feature Carey in Fountain? Carey was still college-aged in Strangeling and was still only mentioned to set him up to replace Erik Von Detten. The flashbacks weren't child-Eric Lively. It's the actors who really make the character so I don't consider the flashback-Carey to really be Carey.
And like I said, most of the subtext is in season 3. As far as Molly/Carey goes, I don't think Carey started having feelings for Molly until season 3 and (theoretically) I think Molly would have tried to repress any feelings she had for Carey (at least on screen/in front of their families). But the subtext is still there, between grown-up Carey and Molly.

Little fun tidbit ...
The name Carey means "Black" and what does Molly always wear? Yep...black!
Well technically for Carey the true breakdown of his name is:
Carey: From an Irish surname that was derived from Ó Ciardha meaning "descendant of CIARDHA". Ciardha: Derived from Irish ciar meaning "black".
So not 100% "Black" but good enough for me! LOL.

Wow. I never thought of this ship until the podcast. I actually REALLY like it, surprisingly. I don't have a problem with large age gaps between consenting adults, but the fact that she knew him since he was a child uncomfortable to me. I definitely think that after a lot of time knowing Carey as a mature adult, that things would develop. They definitely have chemistry there and I really feel like they could be good for each other. But, I also think about how hard of a decision to make that jump would be for Molly. She would carry SO much guilt and fear. They would have to work through a LOT to avoid feeling an imbalanced power dynamic. If I were Molly, I would be PETRIFIED and would run from that relationship like crazy. I think Carey would have to do a lot of convincing and just a lot of TIME, HONESTY, COMMUNICATION, and TRUST would have to be there before they entered a relationship. I could be wrong, but that's my perspective.

I could be wrong, but that's my perspective. I do think it makes the most sense for Carey to make the first move, but he'd take his time, really get her to understand and see he cares for her and really sees her. They'd start as friends and slowly develop into more.
My biggest obstacle in my head canon is how would they'd tell others, how would others react? I can see Carey not caring, not wanting it be a secret and Molly being terrified of losing people in her life because of it.
The head canon I use the most often is...
Jack - would be angry, he won't accept it. Fiona - would be confused, perhaps hurt (because of her crush), would eventually accept it. Annie - would think it's cool, would accept it. Clu - would think it was awesome his big brother was in a relationship like this, thinking it's just a fling, but eventually would see it as more and accept it. /Irene - toughest one...He'd be wary and perhaps towards Molly, over time he'd accept it. Irene? She'd be pissed, never understand it and perhaps even cut all ties with Molly.

Yeah, I worry about others reactions as well. I would hate for Molly to lose so many loved ones. It’s pretty depressing. Your theories On their reactions sound really accurate.
I have seen people talk about Fi having a crush on Carey before. Was this canon in the show and I just missed it or just a fan theory?
