I know we've talked about it some in the chat and livestreams, but I thought it'd be nice to have a thread for it.
My sister was home for winter break, and over the last few days, we watched a bunch of episodes from the first two seasons. The first time I suggested that we watch an episode, she said she wasn't interested, but she changed her mind. It was fun to reintroduce her to So Weird. She was 9 when the third season wrapped, so she didn't remember too much about the show, just "" and "Rebecca" off the top of her head.
Her reactions to some of the episodes were fun. "Family Reunion" seemed to genuinely scare her. "Fall" was the episode that made her comment that she really couldn't believe the show was on Disney Channel. She teared up at "Rebecca." ;-] She never saw "Twin," so she was surprised that Fi actually met Rick. I kept explaining the original plan for the show as we went along, and by the end of it, she was frustrated by the abandoned plot, too.
It was really nice to watch the show with her. In the past, she had rolled her eyes whenever I mentioned our livestreams, but now, maybe she sort of sees why this show still matters to me. She said that some of the acting was suspect and the show could be corny at times, neither of which I could deny, but she wanted to keep watching and even said it was her favorite show as a kid.
Have you introduced/reintroduced So Weird to someone? What were their reactions, good and bad?

LOL! That's awesome! I have actually introduced the show to multiple people. In 2011, I introduced it to a couple friends from the UK. Steve fell in love with it immediately and we actually made an RP in the SW verse, which is cool. I introduced his sister to it around the same time, but while she liked it, she couldn't get into it... she has recently revisited the series and got completely obsessed. I have also introduced it to my little cousin, Michael... he's 5 years old and loves the show, but due to him having the attention span of the 5 year old he is and the fact that it's not a cartoon, we only ever watch a few episodes at a time when we watch it. He doesn't get scared by it at all and it actually inspires his creativity in hilarious ways. I remember one time after we watched, he was turning lights on and off and moving doors and trying to make me think it was a ghost and the house was haunted. Also, my best friend Liz... she hasn't really watched a lot of it on her own, but she's obsessed with the characters. XD I want to try and reintroduce my friend Erica sometime.

Aw, your cousin sounds adorable!
I never thought about doing a So Weird roleplay back when I was a big RPer. Not sure why. It's the perfect show for it!
It's cool that you've introduced So Weird to so many people. I'd like to mention it to more Disney fans. I have some cousins that go to Disney World all the time and mostly watch Disney Channel, but of course, they had never heard of So Weird when I told them about it. They hate Gravity Falls, though, so not sure how they'd feel about So Weird.

Oh yes. When I was in high school I had a group of friends over one Halloween and we watched Family Reunion. They remembered it and liked it as a kid but weren't really into rewatching it for more than an episode or two.
Last year I introduced it to my then-boyfriend and he really liked it. I even got him to go to the livestream once!
And a couple months ago I started putting the dvds on during dinner and making my family watch it. My mom (who was so against the show when it aired because it was "too creepy") finally admitted that it was a good family show after all. My dad loves it solely because Mackenzie Phillips is in it. He also forgot that they had revamped the series and was really interested in how Disney changed the show and why. My sister said she had forgotten about the storyline about Rick and really got into that story arch. I keep telling her that she needs to read up on the original plans for season 3 but she just doesn't want to read it all.

I'm glad your mom came around, Cat! My mom walked through while we were watching and said, "Aw, yeah, I really liked this episode!" She even knew some of the words to "Rebecca." It made me smile. =]
Yeah, I thought about sharing some of the links to the original season 3 stuff with my sis, but there's no way she would read all of it.

I have been rewatching so weird these past couple of days, since my laptop has been down, I've been bored. And I have 2 younger brothers. Tommy 17 and Jack 15. Both of them mainly only care about rap music and such. But it was like the show sucked them in, it surprised me when Tommy said he loved the episode. " " it's hard for me to get him to watch movies lol so it was surprising. Also my mom was getting into it as well and she seemed disappointed when I told her the episode "Lighting Rod" was the last time we see Fiona. Which is the episode we just watched. I even had 2 friends of my brothers that came over and they were also like sucked into it. Kids today would definitely watch it.

Yeah actually!
Recently, I've gotten my cousin Emma into So Weird. We stream it from the internet to my Tv via my Wii U. Even despite the terrible quality, we still manage to enjoy the show. And all because of that Gimme Pizza video...lol

I was just listening to Rebecca and my little cousin who I introduced the show to a while back came in the room and he was like, "Hey, I remember this song! It's from that show with all the scary stuff! Can we watch that?" #ProudMoment It's actually really close to bedtime and they're leaving in the morning to go camping, but I cannot resist letting him stay up a little past his bedtime to watch an episode.

Like 5 years ago, my girlfriends sister had 9 years old and I found the Season 1 in Spanish (from Spain, not latin like I used to watch), so I introduced the show to her. We watched that season together and we never talk about it again.
Few months ago, (she´s 14) she ask me "Remember that strange serie we once watched when I was a child?"... "Give it to me again, I wanna watch it again! Is there any more episodes?"
--Well, Im afraid season 2 and 3 are in English-- I said. -- So you´ll not understand very well--
I´ll try. No problem with that. I wanna watch the entire serie. I think I will understand, what a good show. -- She said.
So there we go! Magnetic So Weird power!

I love seeing young people who weren't alive to see the show when it originally aired interested in So Weird (especially since I'm one of them).

I recently introduced this show to my sister, Jenna! She is fourteen, and she loves it. The first episode we watched together was "Banshee," which is one of my personal favorites, and we both teared up at the end of the episode. I have also introduced the songs to my parents. I burned the music onto a blank CD so that I could listen to them all the time without having to upload them on the computer, and my dad absolutely loves the music from this series!

I tried very hard to get my best friend into it, to the point I was probably pushing it on her too hard. She doesn't hate it, but she certainly doesn't love it either. She thinks it's just OK, and what she dislikes most is that so many episodes have such rushed, abrupt endings. She says she's "not much for detective shows", which seems to me like a gross simplification of So Weird's premise, but whatever, different strokes for different folks and all that... She enjoyed Second Generation a bit because she has a soft spot for cute science nerds. She found Strange Geometry pretty boring and not all that dark, and didn't think Fi getting so emotional over her dad being into the same thing as her completely made sense. She wasn't too fond of the first episode, but thought Web Sight was a little better. She likes some of the songs though, even though she doesn't think Mackenzie is that great of a singer...

My best friend actually just started watching it. She's somewhat familiar with the fandom just because she's basically the only person who reads my fanfiction... and e have discussed it a lot through the years as she takes interest in the SW RP I have with another friend, and of course she's watched a few episodes with me at some point, but she's never seen it in it's entirety. She recently decided she wanted a new show to watch so decided to finally get to watching SW, and she's sending me some super in-depth analyses after every episode telling her thoughts on it. So far she's really enjoying it. Maybe I'll get her to join the forum sometime! LOL

I introduced it to a friend and fellow podcaster, Chris Cooling, he is a big fan of retro TV and the show Eerie, Indiana. He said the show came along too late for him to get invested. I sent him "Angel", "Rebecca", "Banshee" and "Strange Geometry". He watched "Angel", he said the shows are much too short and have way too many characters for this short a show.
