Fi tries to contact her dad through a real medium who spends his time debunking fake mediums and has no interest in using his own talents.

gahhhhhhhhhhh I love this ep. Rick's theme is introduced guys..RICK'S GLORIOUS THEME. Molly is so fragile too being back home. Sad ending with Fi and Molly and Jack trying to hold it together.

Imagine hearing that new So Weird episodes are about to start airing again and getting really excited for more paranormal shenanigans, and then you watch this first episode and it's almost 100% sadness. I bet people were surprised. The tone so different from S1, even though a darker shift is hinted at in "Will o' the Wisp."

I think I would have love how we learned about the character's histories. I'm not sure! But yea I wonder how people felt.

I remember watching this episode for the first time, and I thought it was sad, but, not like, shockingly sad. I mean, the first season had Rebecca. Rebecca was the second episode I watched, and it prepared me for the fact that So Weird was not always going to be a fun show. And the first episode (which I don't think I watched before Medium, but a lot of viewers did) has Fiona and Jack talking about death and their dad. I don't think Medium was a huge shift in tone.

Rewatching this episode... I really don't like Candy. XD

I think Candy is fine in the limited role that she has. I like that you get a sense of her personality through the e-mails and other messages she sends to Fi. I don't think I would have enjoyed having her on the bus or anything like that, but I guess that's because she seems like a flat character.

I actually really like Candy. I wouldn't want her as a regular, but it's just so obvious that she really cares about Fi. She thinks this medium is a fraud (and he is) and that it's going to end up hurting Fi. She keeps trying to damp down Fi's enthusiasm, because she doesn't want her to get her hopes up and then crash even harder.
I kinda wonder how much Candy believes in the supernatural stuff. She's not so supportive here (though she doesn't slap down Fi's beliefs like Jack will), but she's always going along with the online research. I guess I tend to think she goes along with it (including doing actual research) because Fi's into this and so she does it too, to support her friend's interest.

Watching Medium now... IDK why but I never realized Another World playing in the background of the intro monologue.

There was an alternate version of this episode called "Mirror." You can read about it here.
