Earlier today, it was announced The Walt Disney Company was purchasing 20th Century Fox, owners and creators of many a franchise. A purchase that could harm the fate of over one million films, from the silent era to the modern day. Here is what brings me here, if they have enough money to throw around buying up these studios, they have enough to invest in a So Weird DVD boxset. Hell, repackage all the Zoog shows in one complete set, and take my money. But no, they refuse to do that, why? Because Disney has, for the most part, given up on their older fans. They spent so much money promoting, producing and marketing these shows, just to forget them a decade later. It makes no sense, why produce something you have no intentions of preserving, I know many people here have asked Disney to release the show in some fashion and thusfar, those pleas have gone unanswered. Over the past 15 years, I have lost so much respect and love for a company that at one time was the source of my childhood memories. As I look over at my stack of DuckTales episodes on VHS, I can't help but shed a tear that Disney is not the same company we grew up with. It is a monster, a greedy monster, that only wants to monopolize this country solely for its own financial gain. I haven't even been to a Disney screening since 2001's Lilo & Stitch. I am simply fed up with their nonsense, their lack of care and consideration towards their fans, their withholding of the release of material considered to be antiquated and am officially stating on this board that I no longer support the Walt Disney Company. They remind me all too well of Viacom, and their ignorance regarding the old Fleischer Studios library of which they own full rights to, these companies simply do not care about doing the right thing, they only care about the masses and the money they bring. Nothing they can do now can ever make up for the mistakes and missteps they have made over the years. I just can't support a company that refuses to listen to their audience. I will forever treasure the many memories the company made for me and my generation in the past, but it is an era long since gone. So Weird, The Jersey, Song of the South and the remaining 26 or so episodes of the original DuckTales series are doomed to the purgatory known as iOffer for quite possibly, the rest of time. Keeping material that was meant for public consumption locked away is unacceptable, I apologize to the admins of this message board if I exceeded the limit of posts over the past few days, and for any harsh language found within this post in particular. I am revolted by the House of Mouse, and will never again patronize them. When will these companies (Disney and Amazon especially) learn that when you purchase your competition, your own product drops in quality. For Wrestling fans, we know this all too well, with Vince McMahon's purchase of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in the early 2000's. Once you buy out your competition, your own product takes a backseat, WWE Raw's ratings are at an all time low, as the McMahon's are secure in knowing they are "The only show in town", they needn't change or improve the current product, so as to grow their audience and as a corporation. Disney has become the same way, their own product has paled in quality to their Marvel and Lucasfilm outings. I will retreat from my soapbox now and I do again apologize for running long on this, I just needed to vent my frustrations, and I feel you would all understand, my feelings on the matter. Thank You.
