First things first... I just had this idea a couple weeks ago to a fic that shows us roughly where Fi is twenty years after the pilot, as a special anniversary fic. This is actually the first time I am posting anything (fanfic wise) for anyone to see, I am kind of nervous about that... but I am thinking of writing more of these #20YearsLater fics, just to show more specific areas of everyone's life, without being so generalized. If that is something you'd be interested, let me know!
At fifteen, she made an ultimate sacrifice, leaving her family behind under the guise of living a normal life and giving up the weird for a while. Maybe that was her intention at first, but one day it hit her that doors once closed can open again. She decided to use her time away from Molly and Jack to finish what her father started, once and for all. The only person to ever learn about that was Clu, as she and Clu grew close that year and it became impossible to hide that big a secret from him.
Now Fiona is thirty-three. She is still a force to be reckoned with. She may have fulfilled her destiny at 15, but that didn’t stop her passion for the paranormal. She still enjoys traveling around the world, investigating the unknown and writing about her experiences. She has actually made a career out of it. She is joined by her own family now - her now-husband Clu, and their three kids, 12-year old Ricky, 7-year Rebecca, and 4-year old Jack.
Motherhood is something that came naturally to Fi. It has had many interesting moments over the years. One that will stick with her forever is when Ricky was four and picked up his grandpa’s guitar and started playing the melody her father once played, not having heard it himself in his lifetime. It was in this moment that she realized her first son was her father, reincarnated.
“Is everything okay over there?” Clu asks, looking over at Fi as he’s packing the kids’ bags. The sound of the younger two kids bickering carries over from the next room over.
Fi looks up at Clu, confused, “Yeah, why?”
“I don’t know, you just have a look.” Clu points out.
“Just blocked, I guess…” Fi says. She gets up and grabs her jacket from the bed, leaning down to kiss Clu, “I’m gonna go for a walk.”
“Okay. Don’t forget we need to leave for the airport in two hours.” Clu reminds Fi.
“Can I go with you, mom?” Ricky asks, looking up from his homework.
“Yeah, sure.”Fi says, smiling at her eldest son.
Fi and Ricky walk down the crowded Chicago streets. Ricky is excited to go see grandma and uncle Jack and aunt Annie. “I can’t believe grandma is gonna be a new host of The Voice and we get to go watch it!” Ricky exclaims.
“Yeah, grandma’s gonna be so happy to see you.” Fi says with a laugh. She pauses as they come up to the cemetery where Brian McGevily and his parents are buried.
Ricky looks up at his mother, confused, “Mom?”
“Ricky, I want to show you something…” Fi says after a moment of silence.
“What is it?” He asks as he follows his mother into the cemetery. They finally stop at a set of three headstones. “Brian McGevily?” Ricky asks, looking down at the third headstone,
“About twenty years ago… I was not much older than you, we were here in Chicago because your grandma was playing a show. Brian’s ghost was haunting the club she was playing at. He had died in a shipwreck… he needed my help to identify him so he could be reunited with his parents in the afterlife.” Fi explains.
Ricky smiles. He loves hearing the stories from his mom’s adventures, especially ones from when she was a kid. “Mom?”
“Yeah?” Fi says, looking down at him.
“I think you’re the most amazing person in the world.” Ricky says.
Fi laughs, hugging him tightly. “I love you, kiddo.” She says, kissing the top of his head.
“I love you too.” He says.
Later that night, Fi, Clu and their three kids are at Molly’s LA home, sitting around the table with Molly, , Irene, Carey, Annie and Jack and their two kids. It’s a big celebration, celebrating Molly’s next step in her career as well as Annie’s third album going platinum.
Fi’s cell phone rings and she looks down and sees who’s calling and excuses herself to answer the call. She comes back about five minutes later with a huge grin.
“Good news?” Molly asks, noting Fi’s smile.
“Yeah, I don’t want to overshadow anyone, but I just got a book deal!” Fi announces excitedly.
“Oh my god, that is amazing!” says
“Congratulations!” Jack says, so proud of his little sister.
“I am so proud of you!” Clu says, wrapping his arm around Fi and kissing her cheek.
“What’s the book about?” Irene asks.
“It’s actually gonna be a YA series…” Fi explains, pausing, “Inspired by my paranormal encounters when I was a kid…”
“Okay, that is gonna be a bestseller for sure.” Annie says, “Congratulations.”
20 Years
A lot changes in twenty years. At thirteen, Fiona Phillips proved herself to be a force to be reckoned with. She helped the ghost of Brian McGevily be reunited with his parents in the afterlife. She brought the family of Walter Rutledge a little bit of closure after potentially saving the life of Big “Fuzzy” Foot, an experience that taught her the true meaning of honor and sacrifice. Fi chose to do the right thing, even when the other option could reunite her with her father. Roughly 20 Years after Family Reunion
Fiona sits at her laptop, staring at the blank document as she wonders which adventure to about next. She is distracted, thinking about the past.“Is everything okay over there?” Clu asks, looking over at Fi as he’s packing the kids’ bags.
