Fi meets a young man who's really the clone of his genius scientist father.

I really like this one. I like the Molly/Fi bonding in the pre-email scene. I like Molly, Carey, and Jack watching her and grinning when she and Ryan meet and all flirty.
I like Gabe being mentioned. I like how Fi says nice things about Jack behind his back and how he volunteers to go with her so she can have her date. I really like how Molly was okay with Fi not being at her showcase and how she explained it Jack (and I agree with her that if Gabe were there and needed help, Jack would be helping her).
I really like Ryan. He's intelligent and well-spoken and I'm enough of a geek to like the rose-dna-email. I like how he apologizes to Fi for his shutting down (and shaking her hand at the end of date) earlier. I really like how he talks about the risks and even though he's definitely upset that he comes from nowhere, he brings a very reasonable and absolutely accurate accusation to his father about the insane dangers to himself and his health and so on, given the technology of the time. But what I like best was his line about not ignoring a hypothesis just because he didn't like it. Follow the evidence - love that attitude. And I find Ryan and Fi just adorable.
And I like Carey's line about record execs and short attention spans. I don't think there's a single scene in this episode that I don't actively like. No arc material, and no heavy emotions from the main cast, but I just really enjoy watching this one.

Did some pausing on this one, too. In addition to Ryan's weight and height, we got an exact date on the faxes he got regarding his birth record and vaccinations - sets the episode on September 24, 1999, if anyone is interested.
Interestingly enough, Ryan's birthdate doesn't match the days of observation his father kept. Official DOB is June 02, 1985, but as of September 1999, but day 5126 is being recorded. That would be just barely over 14 years, not 14 years and 4 months. So guess his father skipped few days recording him over the years and it's entry # 5126. But it's funny that he seems to have separate diskette for every single day's recordings.

One of my favorite things about this show is that it isn't just a monster of the week show. It's still in essence a coming of age story and deals with the issues of growing up. This episode was such a cute one for Fi and I'm glad we got to see her spend some time worrying about normal teenage stuff, even if her first date did turn out to be with a clone.
