I've just finished watching Stranger Things recently on Netflix and I'm still thinking about it! What a great show! I've heard just a few people compare it to So Weird but the only similarity I saw was the faces and hands coming out of the walls.
Has anyone else seen the show and what did you think?

I also watched it! I agree with you, the parallels to So Weird are minimal. The X-Files revival got mixed reviews and already had a fanbase, to see something new like Stranger Things become a summer phenomenon is great. It shows that there's still an interest in paranormal scripted television that deals with unimaginable creatures and government secrets. It's the first time in a long time (at least I can't think of another) where a show of that genre made it to the mainstream.

I agree with both of you that Stranger Things and So Weird are not all that similar, though I was thrilled to have heard on my blog that Stranger Things reminded someone of So Weird enough that they looked back into So WeIrd! Stranger Things is definitely more similar to X-Files than anything else, though.
I think some other things besides the wall monster that kind of reminded me of So Weird are the fact that there is a character that is able to receive messages from a loved one "beyond" where they are now (either dead or missing), as well as the fact that there is a person in the town that believes that something strange is going on and no one else believes them.
As for my opinion on the show, I really enjoyed it for a while, but I didn't like the show's treatment of one of the characters and that left me a little disappointed. I also am not sure that the show would benefit from another season.

Yea It's a fantastic show, more like a show specially made for 80 and 90's fans with a mix of "supernatural" or "terror" movies. I mean we can find /if we search/ some sort of So Weird flavour, but jjust because of the thematic
