We did least favorite, now it's time for most favorite. And I've put the episodes in production order this time, just because.
Most favorite is a more difficult choice for me than least favorite - I like most of the season 1 episodes very much. "Tulpa", "Lost", "Memory" and "Strangeling" are all strong contenders. "Tulpa" and "Memory" both highlight strong attributes of Fi's character. Her bravery, her curiosity, her desire to help others, and her how her single-mindedness can lead to her to be insensitive or close-minded. "Strangeling" has backstory with Rick and witch blood in the family and Jack as knight. And "Lost" doesn't really highlight any particular aspect for me, I just really, really like it. I'll have to think a while before I come back and pick a favorite.

I have to say "Angel" is my favorite of season one. I tend to like the more emotional ones like Rebecca and Tulpa but I am a sucker for a love story and Jack & Gabe are just too perfect for each other. I love the scenes with Molly and Gabe's dad too. The ending with the "angel" and hospital is very powerful but 's INSANE ACCIDENT with the bus, basically crashing up to front door has me in stitches laughing every time.

I love those two, too. But oddly, not for "Angel" (though it's a lovely start as they so obviously immediately click and and she's inviting everyone to stay over). Actually, future references are what seal the deal for me. That she's not a one-off character (this show is so good about remembering characters, btw), but we see emails and phone calls. And the angel as the symbol of love that drives off the vampire is enough to make me melt. But it's the text of e-mails that get me. Particularly the one in "Banshee" that shows the side himself, the vulnerabilities, Jack shows to Gabe that he doesn't share with anyone else.
Alas, the angel is fairly incompetent. We saw he was capable of speaking in full sentences; he could have easily been far less cryptic and creepy.

I agree, the development of their relationship in further episodes even though we don't see Gabe again is what seals the deal. Molly's mention to Irene in "Fall" that Seth says they are so in love... aw! Your right about how great the show is in remembering characters and using e-mail to do it (even seeing the lists of their messages like in Avatar) are great ways of doing it. I agree about the angel himself- The Angel is cryptic and creepy unnecessarily to add to the mysticism of the show i guess in those early episodes but your right, its annoying. The "Angel" episode also seems slower paced than others in season 1- its directed well- I'm thinking of the wide shot of Molly and Seth on the farm. Lots of good stuff to love here as in all of the season 1 episodes of course- but if I had to pick a favorite, I'm going with Angel. I read the script for the original Banshee and there is dialogue between Jack and Grandma Kathleen at the end where they talk about Gabe's angel necklace she gave Jack and how its very special. Given the rings given by her mother to Molly and Rick, I thought maybe Jack and Gabe were "meant to be" like that .

Will o' the Wisp is hands-down my favorite of season 1. It cements the driving force for season 2 and the original plans for season 3, i.e. Fi's quest to reach her father and find out why he was killed. The stakes are some of the highest in the entire season, with Jack possibly lost to Fi forever (the only other episodes that come close are Singularity, where the high stakes of nearly losing Clu forever are very much not reflected in the lighthearted tone of the episode, and Web Sight, where the bus crash would probably injure some of the Phillips/Bell clan). And I find Bricriu to be abjectly terrifying: he's a "loose cannon" bound only by the rules of magic and his own imagination for chaos, and he's clearly perfectly happy to invade people's minds. Some fun nightmare fuel for you: in the series a strong case is made for the existence of the soul; where is Jack's while Bricriu inhabits his body?
I also love that the story uses So Weird's love affair with technology to update the age-old legends of ordinary humans outsmarting fae folk. It strikes the balance between mythical and modern so well, and I think it exemplifies what the series as a whole was trying to do.
Also, Patrick Levis nails his portrayal of the unhinged, hyperkinetic, totally overdone Bricriu, which makes for such a great contrast to the straight-faced, sardonic Jack. The character work done by him and Cara DeLizia in this episode is incredibly impressive, which I think is what made the story stick with me so clearly all these years.

Angel: As a kid I never payed attention to this one, as an adult I teared up and have to vote favourite. When I was a kid though I would have voted singularity, its just so fun and cool. In fact singularity is the episode that sparked my memory recently thinking "what was that disney show with that warped blue scene filled with baseballs and a dog". This show really is for all ages.

Singularity simply because I LOVE the idea of that time-space rift

Nostalgic reasons S1E12 "Lost". And, perhaps because I'm "old", such a beautiful surprise to see the iconic Dionne Warwick and childhood star Kyla Pratt, all in the same episode! I was so not ready for that 😅
