Did anyone else notice so much Marey in this episode?
I mean, Carey gets so protective around Tad. "My mom gets discounts." He says that so proudly like, I get her cheap hotel rooms, what could you ever do for Molly?
And I can only explain Carey being so interested in the oopa by telling myself that he wanted to get Tad into trouble so Molly wouldn't like him. Literally, this episode is my Marey paradise.

I love Marey but I forgot all about Tolly....Mod? What do we call Tad/Molly?
I just rewatched Susie Q and forgot how much I love Garwin Sanford. I have now fallen in love with Tad all over again. It happens every time.
If Fi's dad had stayed dead and Tad wasn't killed off like speculated in the original season 3 plans I wouldn't have minded Tad/Molly happening. He was definitely weird and would have fit into the family well. Or rather as well as can be expected.

Does anyone know... was the original plan that the Oopa was supposed to make a re-appearance at some point or did they mostly plan it as a one-off? I was always fascinated by how it worked and the possibilities there.

That'd be a good question for Jon Cooksey! You can send him a tweet @joncooksey666.

I was always fascinated by how it worked and the possibilities there. I was just rewatching, and I can't think they intended it to be a one-off. Not with Jack and Carey specifically saying that either Fi would find it again or it would find Fi. And, of course, the sneaky folks found Atlantis at the end of the ep. But I'm very interested in whatever method would be used to bring Fi and the artifact together again and in what information it could give her, what its purpose is, or really how it could be useful in the coming battle.

Resurrecting this thread since I watched the episode recently...
As for shipping, I can't really stand the idea of Molly/Tad. Tad would need to chill out a lot more, even after he's redeemed a little in this episode. I do like the idea of them being friends though. If I'm going to pair Molly with anyone besides Rick, it would be Gabe's father Seth. They had a connection in Angel and I would root for them. But the show probably couldn't pursue Molly/Seth AND Jack/Gabe. (Now that I think about it though, I wonder if Molly and Seth's personalities would be TOO similar.)
But yeah, I did read the season 3 notes and noticed Jon didn't mention the OOPA at all. My guess would be that aliens placed the OOPA on Atlantis thousands of years ago - or maybe they gave Atlanteans the technology to build it. I also wonder if the OOPA connects with the translator Fi receives in Roswell. Maybe the Roswell artifact is the speaker piece and the OOPA works like an intergalactic satellite dish?

I do like Tad & Molly merely because he DOES support her work and wants her to succeed, even if she has to sell herself out with silly jingles like "Star Dot Star" LOL
I don't even believe it was a rouse of him wanting to ask out Molly, merely because of how happy and excited he was when Molly said "yes". And, the way that he looks at her is just so sweet and is a huge advocate for her success, in the music business.
While, yes, I ship Tad & Molly, the Oopa, itself was intriguing, and my headcannon is that it ONLY works for Fi, and nobody else. I find it hard to believe it didn't respond to anyone else's thoughts BUT Fi's, but I digress.
