Kathie I'm pretty sure I was channeling Fi when I gave my speech. Haha I was very excited over it. We were staying a a hostel at that point and the wife of the couple that owned it helped me learn how to pronounce some things. It was great. Darren Shan is a really really amazing man. He had all the time in the world while at the writers festival. He did a reading for the children during his time then did signings. I was at the back of the line and got him to sign the copy of The Thin Executioner which was just coming out and one for my friend as well. Then he even recorded a short video for my friend to wish her luck with her writing. My friend LOVES him and writes so much horror and gore and he was like 'make sure you give Kathleen a good scare for me'. It was really lovely. We talked for quite a while actually and I have a picture of him trying to 'choke me'. Definitely study abroad if you can. It really is one of the best things you can ever do. soweirdo: Definitely sonnet 130. It has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. I like that it is different from all the other sonnets of the time. Instead of attributing all these things to a woman which basically no woman can ever possess all of them it speaks the truth and says 'I know you aren't perfect but I love you. And my love is just as strong as all those who say those silly things'. I can quote the whole thing at the drop of a hat. @white Raven: Hello! Thank you! Always glad to meet another writer and fan of fairy tales! Banshee is definitely in my top 3 songs. I even get a bit of a lilt when I sing it. Haha I really loved how they had her fix her relationship with her da. And I agree. The tone shift was probably the biggest problem for me. I hate when storylines are dropped or forgotten so I kind of hated Annie for it even though it wasn't her fault. But I did enjoy some of her episodes. I just kept waiting for Fi to come back and make it darker again. Haha The panther confused me when I first watched it but it's more interesting now that I am doing a rewatch. @molly Phillips: I definitely dislike her a GREAT deal less than when it first aired. I think that was my first experience with a show being messed with. And now I've had all the Whedon shows and nearly every other show I watch get cancelled or changed by networks. Also, Yay ! I wanted a teacher like him. Imagine field trips! ALL THE EXCITEMENT.

another K/Cathleen! (Mine's spelled with a C though). I'm also in my final year of university and I'm an English major. WE'RE ALMOST TWINSSS!!! Not really, but last year I had a roommate named Kathleen who was in my year and a creative writing major. Maybe you're her twin o.0 I felt the same way about Annie! She just wasn't Fi and the show didn't feel the same at all with the new direction Disney pushed it into. Anyway, welcome to the forum! XD

Cathleen (and your former roommate Kathleen) I see the beginning of a BEA-U-TIFUL friendship. haha What is your concentration for English? Are you just doing English or like going into Education?
Wasn't Conrad's Hideout the comm for Conrad to hide from Annie or something? I think I remember seeing it and I thought it was hilarious. Rewatching Annie I'm starting to like her again but it is still a funny idea. It's like if Bricriu or someone like that saw Fi and was like OH SNAP NOT HER AGAIN and went to hide. Imagine Bri hiding from Fi. That would be hilarious.

Lol, I don't remember the Conrad hiding from Annie part, but that does sound like something they'd come up with. I thought it was hilarious too and still get a laugh out of it when I look through their old posts. I don't mind Annie as much as I used to either, but I still love poking fun at her character and season 3 in general so I still find the community amusing. Fans of Annie would probably disagree XD LOL I can actually picture Bricriu wanting to hide from Fi, especially after she trapped him in her laptop XD

Is there a certain time period you are partial to/grade? I can't remember if that was there or maybe just a fanfic with similar name. Either way it amused me. I can definitely see him hiding from her after the computer incident. I want to see their next meeting. Or at least her letting him go or something.

I'm actually just starting fieldwork this semester so I have no idea which grade I'd prefer. My plan has always been to teach high school for the higher level of writing and analysis, but then I took a YA Lit class and started thinking about how much I'd love to teach middle school just to teach those kinds of books. So I really can't choose XD I don't really have a favorite time period either, but I really love existentialist and dystopian texts. Lol, I really wish they had brought Bricriu back after Fi left. If Annie met him, it would have been hilarious. He was definitely comedic enough that Disney could have allowed it.

Fieldwork is oh so much fun. :/ Are you like out and 'observing' That's what we had to do. 20 hours for each of our lower level classes. It can be fun if you have a good class to observe. Me too! He would have been lots of fun!

He would have been lots of fun! At first it's observing, and then we start doing mini-lessons and then full-lessons and other teacher-stuff like grading tests or making copies of handouts. It's a precursor to student teaching, which usually takes place at the same school. I've heard it can be the highlight of your week or an absolute horror story. I'm hoping for the former rather than the latter XD What kind of fieldwork did you have to do?

All I did really was sit and watch a Yeager teach. We weren't allowed to be left alone with the kids or anything. For one class I had to give a presentation (one of the study abroad classes) so that was fun but other than that the lower level classes was just observing then upper level classes would have done what you said.
