In the Season 3 ideas document I saw that Jon Cooksey took some inspiration from real articles and history. I had an idea to do some research on some of the stories in So Weird and Rockerbaby and deputyseal409 told me it was a great idea and to share them. So here goes.
Feel free to add your own findings too and maybe we can create a sort of encyclopedia (or just a really cool thread with lots of info.)!
-------------------
Episode 25 Transplant In the intro Fi mentions a woman named Claire Sylvia who was a New England ballet dancer. She received a heart and lung transplant in 1988 and suddenly had a craving for junk food. Sylvia found out the cravings belonged to the 19yo donor.
Findings:
Disney probably didn't want to mention that one of her cravings was beer Lifetime movie Heart of a Stranger was inspired by her story.

Episode 5 Listen This is the crop circle episode that takes place in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Findings:
This one was difficult to research, but I found this blog post by Stace Tussel from November 2010. Kansas resident Laura Neville stated that in 1995 she and two passengers were driving one night between Buhler and Hutchinson, Kansas and witnessed an unusual light descend at a steep angle in the direction of Inman.
Days later, there was a front page article about a crop circle found near the city.
Laura's son Brian shared his testimony too. He said between 1996-2000 he had five different encounters with the same ‘craft’ over the same area.
Brian stated that after saying in his mind "Come on! I have seen you five times!" The ship lit up for a few seconds - as if to put on a performance in response... as if he and the ship had psychically communicated. Laura left a comment on the post and goes on to say that she knows someone who does investigations for the state and has reported similar experiences.
Notes: Italicized words are quotes from the post. I couldn't find the article that Laura referred to (I ran a search on Hutchinson News between June or July 1995). I found a newspaper archive, but it asked for me to pay for access :/
