The more I rewatch the show, the more I appreciate Molly Phillips. She was such a good tv mom and such a great character with a rich history.
I just started working on a mom-Molly vid of her with Jack and Fi, so if you have any favorite Molly-mom scenes let me know!
My favorite one will always be the bit of advice "Even if you can't help somebody, you can love them" from James Garr. It was such a raw, honest scene with the best advice I've ever heard from a tv show and I'm so glad it came from Molly. Even though she couldn't make Jack or Fi feel any better about what was happening to their new friends in that episode, she was still there for them and loved them through it and I think there is something really powerful about just being there for someone like that.

One of my favorite moments between Molly and Fi, I think it was in Werewolf, I might be mistaken... but Molly tells Fi, "You know, I hope someday you have a daughter and she's exactly like you."
Also the moment in Family Reunion, when she's talking to Fi by the laptop. And in Lightning Rod, when they refer back to that conversation.

I know I have already said this on FaceBook, but I feel a need to post it here, too: I think Molly Phillips is one of the Disney Channel's strongest female characters. I so appreciate how Molly carries on through her life pursuing her music career and raising her two kids, even though Rick's death pains her deeply. Her songs in the series are so deep because they are largely influenced by her personal history, and I love the episode "Encore," where she sings several of her songs in concert.

I'll admit it's probably one of my least favorite episodes because of how OOC Fi is, but that moment pretty much makes up for it. It's basically the reason I can't dislike the entire episode. LOL

One of the most realistic widow mother's on tv ever. Not just Disney but in general. Hands down my favorite character's ever.

One thing I love about Molly is that she listens to her kids and does not pretend to know all the answers. I noticed this while rewatching recently...
In WebSight, Fi asks her, does everything happen for a reason? Her response... I don't know but I do know that you are an amazing person!
In James Garr, Fi and Jack ask her if she's ever wanted to help someone so bad but couldn't? Her response... Even if you can't help someone, you can love them - I think thats something.
In Eddie's Desk, Annie says something about people who never get what they want. Her response... that's a tough one, I don't know but I do know that you are a very kind soul Annie.
We don't have all the answers (or even most of them). Its very refreshing to have a character that be authentically honest and real about her emotions - even show vulnerability in front of her kids. Its not something we see often but I really APPRECIATE this about Mack's character.

When I was a kid, I was indifferent to Molly. My focus was mostly on the younger characters.
Now I appreciate and love Molly the most! That’s why it’s so important to go back and watch this show as an adult. You gain a new understanding and appreciation of the older characters.

I always did feel quite a connection to Molly because I wanted to be a performer, but its cool to see all the little things about her you missed before. She's a very detailed character with great depth.
