Hi everybody! I'm a music composition student and I'm referencing Annmarie Montade's So Weird songs as an influence on my songwriting. But I wanted to ask you all your opinion: what kind of genre would you classify the So Weird songs under? (Particularly Season 1-2 Molly songs) It would be so helpful if anyone replied! Thank you!

I think the safest genre to list season 1 and 2 as is rock/pop rock and Molly's solo stuff as folk rock. Love is Broken and Another World sound like ballads so I think rock. But Origami and New Math, unlike Love and World, was post PKB and Molly on her own. Those are definitely more folksy. That also fits in with *where* she was performing too, small venues to more niche crowds as opposed to Dodger Stadium full of people. Folk music, at least the kind I'm familiar with, tends to have a lower profile.
ETA: In Cooksey's interview with the podcast he stated The Eagles were a big influence to him. But PKB wasn't Annmarie. "Annmarie obviously tended towards folk rock kind." (pg 21 of the FAQ). And in the FAQ (on pg 13) he says "The model was always Buckingham and Nicks joining Fleetwood Mac."

Btw, the Discord is more active than here.
We have a music channel where others have shared music related to PKB - at least based on what we heard on the show and info from Cooksey. It might be worth a look if you ever want/need.
