Clu was another of my favorite characters. He was always so funny and I was sad to see him leave. Still one of the show's biggest mistakes IMO. He was great. I always think of him as "the human golden retriever." Always goofy and friendly to everyone!

I absolutely loved that one scene in episode 6 of season 1, titled Simplicity', where the guy goes ''You really think that science and logic are incomplete? Well, just so you know, they're aren't! Clue - [insert Joey Lawrence tone of voice here] ''Woah, scamper alert!'' tech dude-- ''I mean, you want to throw out math and physics and philosophy and the good and the economy and the---!!'' and Clu goes -''Uhh.. Oohhkay.' lol So the guy goes- ''Not, 'Oohhkay'.'' -super funny That California 'dude'/ slight Shaggy from Scooby Doo lingo/speak is awesome for the character and in a way, unique too And in 'Mutiny' Season 02 Episode 06 --they're all so cute, like little elves trying to figure out why is mad

Remember in the ep. Voodoo, when Molly and Annie were yelling 'fire' and he was the only one who showed up with two cups of water? Seems like Clu Bell, and I cannot believe the words are coming out of me mouth, is the smartest character.

lol yeah. I love Clu, he's so sweet. He's also the only one who offers to wait for Fi by "walking slow" when Jack wants to go ahead without her in "Listen"

Totally bumping this because I somehow didn't see it when it was first posted and I happen to be digging back into posts of years past... (Unrelated note, how is this forum about 3 years old? Where does time even go! ) Back on track! Clu's voice. LOL. I agree, it's pretty awesome and I love it too. In fact, when describing his character to friends, I often described him as a Disneyfied stoner type character, hugely because of his voice and the way he presents himself throughout the series. Honestly, I can imagine him being a total hippie as an adult. Pot, vegetarianism, the whole nine yards.

I don't think it's ever been discussed... how old is Clu anyways? I always imagine him being Jack's age (15-17)... but the fact that he goes off to college in S2 would imply he's either 18 at that point, at least two years older than Jack... or he got his GED and went off to college at an earlier age.

I go with him being 18 when he went to college (though I do think they originally intended him to be Jack's age, but then retconned it). I do admit that's a little problematic with their sizes in the flashback to Christmases past. We do know Clu had his driver's license before Jack did.

Clu a great comic relief character without being too cheesy....well came close a few times in seasib three. Overall he always puts a smile on your face. What I want to know is what type name is Cluette? Or however it was spelled. Unless I'm going crazy and wasn't his real name?

If his name was just "Clu", the maybe he was named after Clu Gulager Google tells me "Cluett" is an English surname, so maybe he got great grandma's maiden name as a first name? My cousin got named that way, and it's fairly common in some regions of the US - so much so that I recall the practice being referenced in a country song once.

I believe Jon Cooksey addressed Clu/Cluett on Twitter at some point. I am vaguely remembering recording the podcast for Eddie's Desk and we were all wondering about "Cluett", one of the other podcasters tweeted Jon Cooksey and he replied before we even finished recording, so the answer is probably within that podcast episode closer to the end.

Yeah I thought of the family name theory after I posted that. Carey too isn't a very common name; for girls (spelled differently)it is but for a boy born in the early 80's as I said quite uncommon. Makes you wonder the back story on his name too. I can picture Jon Cooksey and others on the production/creation staff with documents full of complex histories and head canons for all the characters even though they knew 90% would never be known they still created it. I will certainly give that podcast a listen to in the next few days to find out what the real answer is!
